Harrison Chart riding Direct Cruising won the BE 100U18 at Eridge Park Horse Trials on Saturday 14th July. Cruise, owned by Sara Wick, has competed up to 2* and Harrison who has only been riding for three years expressed how grateful he was to be able to loan such a special horse from a supportive and involved owner. Suzanne Stratford’s family moved to Broadlands in Medstead, Hampshire in 1946. In 1955 they started giving riding lessons and the Broadlands RDA Group has grown ever since. ITN newsreader Alastair Stewart OBE is an enormous supporter of British equestrianism, a sport three of his four children actively enjoy and one in which he has a number of voluntary roles, including Ambassador for British Showjumping and Patron of the Brooke. On Sunday 8th July Alastair and his wife, Sally, visited Broadlands to celebrate the first phase in the centre’s refurbishment. Fifteen-year-old Kitty Ashby took the win in the BE90 Section B at Brightling International Horse Trials riding her mare, Boleybawn Rose. Kitty attends Mayfield school where she has just completed her GCSE’s, and competes in NSEA competitions alongside BE and Pony Club. Read more
