July / August 2017 Issue

Inside this issue we chat to Surrey based Italian dressage rider Olivia Moriano and share event rider Adam Trew’s tips for preparing for competition.

In addition to pages of news and advice there are lots of summer show reports, including the 70th Heathfield Agricultural Show, Surrey County and the Kent Festival of Showing and Show Jumping. Plus, there is a fabulous report from the Pony Racing finals held at Plumpton, as well as the RDA Dressage Qualifiers held at Hickstead.

September / October 2016 Issue

Inside this issue we celebrate the British Equestrian Team’s success at the Rio Olympics, along with lots of colourful show reports, including the Longines Royal International Horse Show, the Haflinger Society of Great Britain National Breed Show and the 70th Cranleigh Show. Plus, there is eventing from Gatcombe and the SsangYong Motors Eridge Horse Trials, as well as a round-up of local successes at the British Show Jumping National Championships. Other reports include Pony Club Camp, Pony Club Polo, RDA Carriage Driving, and regional Dressage Champs.

There is a Where, What, When guide to Riding on the Beach, outlining where to go, what to take and what to remember, plus six fabulous pages of readers’ beach riding pictures. Plus, there are lots of useful tips in our ‘Are you ready for Autumn?’ feature.

June 2016 Issue

There is lots to celebrate inside the June 2016 issue, including Her Majesty the Queen’s 90th Birthday and Michael Jung winning Badminton. There are fabulous pictures from the Queen’s 90th Birthday celebrations at Windsor, plus a full report from the Royal Windsor Horse Show. In addition to our main Badminton report, there is a special feature on Gemma Tattersall’s Retrained Racehorse, Arctic Soul, as well as six pages dedicated to local successes at the Mitsubishi Motors Cup.

The issue is packed with wonderful show reports from across the South East including the Wimbledon Pony Club Show, eventing from Chilham, as well as lots of local Pony Club and Riding Club news.

December 2014 / January 2015 Issue

Inside this issue we share the last of the late autumn show reports, including Strictly Come Dressage, which was held in aid of the Emile Faurie Foundation, Pony Racing from Lingfield Park Racecourse, plus lots of local shows and events.

Ed Lyall of the Sussex Equine Hospital talks about the illness every horse owner dreads, Atypical Myopathy. Plus, there are lots of tips on how you and your horse can stay warm and happy over the winter.

September 2014 Issue

As summer draws to a close, this issue is bursting with glorious summer show reports, including the Longies Royal International Horse Show, International eventing from Chilham, the 68th Cranleigh Show, Endurance GB rides at Hornshill and the Ashdown Forest, plus lots of Pony Club, Riding Club and other local shows and events.

There are Training Tips from Gemma Tattersall, plus we chat to event rider Francis Whittington after he was crowned National Eventing Champion at Gatcombe with his striking grey, Easy Target. Other lovely features focus on Ada Cole, who campaigned to end suffering to horses after the First World War. Almost 100 years later the Charity started in her name has gone through many mergers and changes to be now known as World Horse Welfare. You can find out more about this determined and dedicated lady.

Plus, there is a great guide on what to ask, what to consider and what to be wary of when you change livery yard.

June 2014 Issue

In June 2014 we were celebrating Sam Griffith’s brilliant victory at Badminton Horse Trials. There are three pages of local results from the Mitsubishi Grassroots Championships, plus, we talk to Harry Meade who finished third with Wild Lone.

Continuing the eventing theme, we featured Alice Goring and her striking pocket rocket, the Little Frenchman. Ed Lyall of the Sussex Equine Hospital talks about Back Problems in Horses and there is a whole section devoted to local news and stories.

Show reports include, eventing at Chilham, Pachesham Easter Show, Mount Mascal Stables Show, South East Arab Horse Group, Kilnhanger Mini Trec, Winchester Riding Club Show, Crawley & Horsham Pony Club, plus, Jewels Stables and Hangleton Farm.

August 2013 Issue

Back in 2013 we were celebrating the birth of the now much more widely known equine twins, Eric and Ernie. Inside this issue we share some great pictures from their early days. We also brought news of Lucinda Green’s niece, Lara Prior Palmer’s plans to ride in the Mongol Derby. Plus, we celebrated Her Majesty the Queen’s fabulous win at Royal Ascot, when Estimate won the Gold Cup.

The issue was also full of summer show reports, including the NPS Area 20 Summer Show, the Hickstead Derby, eventing from Eridge Horse Trials, Pink and Bling Dressage, plus lots, lots more.

October 2012 Issue

In October 2012 we were celebrating Andrew Nicholson winning the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials on Avebury. We chatted to local show rider and producer Keely Harrison and Ed Lyall of the Sussex Equine Hospital talked about Mud Fever.

As autumn approached, the issue was bursting with show reports, including the Tonbridge Lions Show, Mount Mascal Riding School Bank Holiday Show, the Cranleight Show and Edenbridge & Oxted Show. Plus, there was eventing from Borde Hill and Firle Place, along with seven pages of Pony Club News and the last of the Sunshine Tour qualifiers.

February 2012 Issue

Packed with winter show reports, the February 2012 issue featured Warlingham & District Horse Club, Surrey Union Hunt, Mid Surrey Pony Club, Highstead Riding Club, Vicarage Farm Hunter Trials, Brickfields on the Isle of Wight and Joydens Riding Club. Plus, the wonderfully colourful and superbly choreographed London New Year’s Day Parade and Strictly Come Dressage. We chatted to a then, very young Eloise Van Praagh and featured a wonderful profile on the Cleveland Bay horse.

August 2011 Issue

Back in the summer of 2011 most of us were looking forward to the following year and the London Olympics. The August 2011 issue shared the wonderful and unique memories from the test event at Greenwich, which saw Piggy French top of the podium.

Another memorable win inside this issue, was Tina Fletcher winning the Hickstead Derby. This late summer issue is bursting with show reports, which include, Brightling Horse Trials, Great Bookham, Goring & District, Mid Sussex, Sevenoaks Riding Club, Area 10 Horse Trials, Shermanbury Sponsored Ride, Ebony Horse Club, Mid Sussex Le Trec and Parham Park Trec. Plus, lots of Pony Club news and results including tetrathlon and eventing.

Inside this issue we also talk to a much younger, Alice Oppenheimer, celebrate the retirement of Derby Legend, Mondriaan and share everything you need to build the ‘Perfect Yard’.

August 2010 Issue

In August 2010 we celebrated Guy William’s victory in the Hickstead Derby. Alongside Guy’s story we included Pony Club Inter Branch Eventing, Riding Club Area 10 Horse Trials, Rackham One Day Event, Eridge Horse Trials, Chilham Park Combined Training, Step by Step Unaffiliated Dressage, plus, Pony Club racing from Lingfield Park.

We also featured, Brighton Horse Driving Trials, the NPS Area 20 Summer Show, the Kent Festival of Showing and Dressage, as well as lots of other local shows, news and events. Plus, we had a fascinating interview with French stunt rider, Jean Marc Imbert.
