Breen and Miller to battle it out for Derby honours

They’re good friends out of the show ring but make no mistake about it, Trevor Breen and Phillip Miller will be going all out to beat the other in this year’s Derby at Hickstead (Sunday 28 June 2015).

In 2013, Phillip scored his first win in Hickstead’s most famous class, claiming the only clear round on the grey gelding Caritiar Z. Trevor had to settle for runner-up spot that year, later describing it as ‘the worst second place he’d ever had’.

Guy Williams claims the Bunn Leisure Speed Derby at Hickstead

Guy Williams was confident from start to finish that he was going to win the Bunn Leisure Speed Derby on Casper De Muze. He has only had the 12-year-old since Christmas, but quickly formed a successful partnership winning eight out of nine classes on the Sunshine Tour. Guy said: “I had a feeling he was going to win. The aim has always been the Speed Derby and I had to keep the brake on yesterday. My main worry was Belinka, who was last to go, as I used to ride her (she is now ridden by Richard Howley) and I know she is fast.”
