With the night’s drawing in and the days becoming colder we turn our attention to our horse’s winter feeding routine. Colder temperatures will put extra demands on the horse’s metabolism, pasture will have little nutritional value, water buckets will freeze and forage intake will decline as less time is spent grazing, therefore it is important that we reconsider our horse’s diet during this time. AP McCoy Visits an Old Friend

The record breaking jockey Tony (AP) McCoy has had an incredible 20-year career during which he rode more than 4,300 winners!


Reigning Champion Jockey for 20 years, AP has now retired after an illustrious career in racing and recently visited his Champion Hurdle winning partner ‘Make a Stand’ at Henrietta Knight’s yard. Make a Stand produced one of AP’s most memorable wins in the 1997 Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham where he led all the way, now 25 years old the chestnut gelding lives at Henrietta’s Oxfordshire yard with Edredon Bleu (whom AP won the Queen Mother Champion Chase in 2000).

Caring for Your Horse during Winter by Alltech
