A tiny 3 month old foal who was brought into Penny Farm Rescue and Rehoming Centre near Blackpool has surprised everyone with his will-to-survive after being found collapsed and close to death in the coldest month of the year.
Just a few weeks ago – when freezing temperatures were gripping the country – World Horse Welfare Frodo was found by Field Officer Rachel Andrews. Rachel visited a group of cobs who had been left in a field in Cheshire without adequate food, water or protection from the bitter conditions. She immediately noticed tiny foal Frodo who was incredibly weak, had a distended belly due to an infestation of parasitic worms, was crawling with lice and had absolutely no spark left in him.

Animal Friends Insurance have donated £6000 to HorseWorld in Bristol. This takes them over their fundraising target of £10,000 in aid of a campaign for one of their rescued foals, Felix.

HorseWorld started this campaign after their rescue team were called out to find two foals around 4 months old, who had been left to fend for themselves. One, who they later named Felix, was so emaciated he was taken for immediate medical treatment, unfortunately the other was lying dead in a drainage ditch.
