Harrison swaps football for eventing with winning form

Harrison Chart and Direct Cruising won at Eridge

Harrison Chart riding Direct Cruising won the BE 100U18 at Eridge Park Horse Trials on Saturday 14th July. Cruise, owned by Sara Wick, has competed up to 2* and Harrison who has only been riding for three years expressed how grateful he was to be able to loan such a special horse from a supportive and involved owner.

Harrison attends Reigate school where he has just finished year ten, and says the school have been accommodating of his riding thus far, allowing him occasional time off for lessons with his trainers Leanne Wall and Henry Boswell. Alongside BE, Harrison competes for his school and Surrey Union Pony Club, qualifying for the Pony Club Championships for the second year running.

Another important event the pair have coming up is Frickley Park U18 Championships, for which Eridge served as a warm-up. Harrison said of Eridge that although he hoped for a good dressage, the double clear and ultimate win were a bonus they never expected, and has boosted the pair’s confidence before Frickley. Harrison expressed thanks to the U18 coaches for all their help, his sponsor Equestrian Training Mirrors, as well as long-time trainer Sarah Ingleson who along with his mum Vicky persuaded him away from football and taught him to ride.

Harrison and Cruise finished sixth in the BE100u18 section A at the National under 18 Championships held at Frickley Park at the end of July.
