The Amlin Plus Eventing Grand Prix draws to a close at Hickstead
The Amlin Plus Eventing Grand Prix will no longer form part of the Longines Royal International Horse Show at Hickstead (29 July – 3 August).
The organisers have made the regretful decision to remove the event from this year’s programme, due to a change of television scheduling.
“This year, Sky Sports will be filming the action from the Longines Royal International Horse Show from Friday onwards,” explains Hickstead director Lizzie Bunn. “Viewers will still be able to watch live action from a number of classes, including the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup, the Templant Events Queen Elizabeth II Cup and the Longines King George V Gold Cup.
On Good Friday 18th April 2014, upwards of 10,000 visitors are expected to attend The Betfair Lambourn Open Day. This annual charity event provides visitors with a unique opportunity to go behind the scenes at some of the country’s top racehorse training establishments and meet the trainers, staff and, of course, the horses. More than 25 racing yards are expected to open their doors to the public in the Valley of the Racehorse, so don’t miss your chance to see the stable stars of Lambourn, including Cheltenham Festival winners Whisper, trained by Nicky Henderson and the Jamie Snowden trained Present View as well as superstars Bobs Worth, Sprinter Sacre and Kauto Star.
World-famous vocal artist Leona Lewis celebrated both her birthday and a new title on 3rd April 2014, as she has been confirmed as Horse of the Year Show’s (HOYS) Honorary President. A passionate animal lover and keen equestrian, Leona is eager to use the role to raise awareness of the work done by her own charity, Hopefield Animal Sanctuary, which is very close to her heart, when the “The World’s Most Famous Horse Show” returns to Birmingham’s NEC from 8th to 12th October 2014.

Great Britain’s biggest dressage super-stars Carl Hester OBE and Natasha Baker MBE will open the world-renowned Spanish Riding School of Vienna at Wembley Arena this coming autumn as part of their UK tour.
International and National Dressage Makes A Welcome Return to CHI Royal Windsor Horse Show
International and national Dressage will return to Royal Windsor Horse Show in 2014 after an absence of 4 years, as the UK’s largest outdoor show becomes a CHI (Concours Hippique Internationale) for the very first time.
The CDI3* FEI Dressage Grand Prix will take place on the evening of Thursday 15 May and the CDI3* FEI Dressage Freestyle on the evening of Friday 16 May. Fifteen competitors will be invited to take part; five from the UK and ten from overseas, and it is expected that there will be six nations competing in total. The addition of the International Dressage competition allows Windsor to reintroduce its popular evening programmes, which will also include equestrian displays from The Household Cavalry and The King’s Troop, as well as The Pony Club Mounted Games, The Shetland Pony Grand National and an Arab Horse Display from Bahrain.
Equestrian Training Centre Wellington Riding Celebrates Forty Years of Training Horses and Riders
Wellington Riding in Hampshire is one of the UK’s foremost training, education and competition establishments. Founded in 1974 by John and Nereide Goodman and since 2000 owned by the Wellington Estate, this year Wellington Riding will proudly celebrate a fortieth anniversary.
Two of the highest-rated players in the world will battle it out at Hickstead in the annual International Arena Polo Test Match on Saturday 1 March 2014.
England will once again take on a team from the USA, whom they beat during their last clash home at Hickstead in 2012 as well as the away fixture in 2013. The England team has enjoyed an unbeaten run on home soil dating back to the first international test match 2008, with wins against South Africa, Scotland, and Argentina as well as the USA. The home team also came out victorious in last year’s match at Hickstead, which saw England take on a team from the rest of the British Isles.
After months of anticipation, a date has been set for the general release of the highly-demanded Horse of the Year Show (HOYS) 2014 tickets. Fans will be able to purchase their tickets from Thursday 6th February, while previous visitors will be given access to an exclusive pre-sale (terms & conditions apply – see booking website) from Friday 31st January 2014.
The organisers are looking forward to welcoming 60,000 visitors to Birmingham’s NEC from Wednesday 8th October – Sunday 12th October for another exceptional Show.
