William Whitaker and Fandango win Stuttgart World Cup Qualifier
The Union Flag was flying in Stuttgart when William Whitaker from Huddersfield secured a brilliant win with the 11 year-old dark bay gelding Fandango to win the World Cup qualifier on 23rd November 2014.
It was a field of just over 30 starters that came forward to contest the fifth leg of the World Cup series in which the winner not only picked up a Mercedes Benz but also some all-important league points. The 1.60m course built by course designer Luc Musette claimed many victims with just ten of the original riders jumping clear in the first round and qualifying for the jump off.

Allen makes his mark with spectacular win at Longines leg in Verona
He’s only 19 years old, but Ireland’s Bertram Allen is taking the Jumping world by storm and today reigned supreme in his first-ever Longines FEI World Cup™ Jumping Western European League qualifier at Verona in Italy. Riding the 10-year-old grey mare, Molly Malone, with which he has secured phenomenal successes this year including victory in the Grand Prix at Dublin and 7th place individually at the World Equestrian Games, he beat a world-class field with a devastating turn of speed when second-last to go in this afternoon’s 10-horse jump-off.

Guy Williams was confident from start to finish that he was going to win the Bunn Leisure Speed Derby on Casper De Muze. He has only had the 12-year-old since Christmas, but quickly formed a successful partnership winning eight out of nine classes on the Sunshine Tour. Guy said: “I had a feeling he was going to win. The aim has always been the Speed Derby and I had to keep the brake on yesterday. My main worry was Belinka, who was last to go, as I used to ride her (she is now ridden by Richard Howley) and I know she is fast.”

A unique piece of sand art on the Bay of Mont-Saint-Michel in Normandy has marked 100 Days To Go to the start of the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games™ 2014 in France this summer.
French artist Christophe Dumont created a spectacular piece of sand art featuring giant, 2.3 by 2.5 metre horse’s hoof prints in a huge ‘100’ on the famous Normandy beach. The artist and a team of 20 people battled against time and tide to produce the unique piece of artwork, so that it could be captured on camera before the waves washed it away.
