Organisers of the Kent County Show, the Kent County Agricultural Society, have developed their offering for equine competitors at their 90th Show on 5, 6, 7 July 2019.
The Show has developed a new, refreshed equine timetable that includes over 10 new classes and 25 Horse of the Year Show qualifiers. The Kent County Show is the only show in the country to have an International Trial included in their showjumping timetable this summer. This is bolstered by further new showjumping classes of Senior Foxhunter 1.20m, Senior Newcomers/6 Year Old 1.10m, Senior Open 1.15m, British Novice 90cm and Senior Open 1m. For equine showing, new classes include Welsh A and B classes and an exercise driving class as well as hosting the JVJ Championship for side saddle.
For competitors entering the Kent County Show’s equine classes, a share of the over £40,000 prize money fund is up for grabs as well as the new Fitt Family Perpetual Trophy for the best Ridden Anglo or Part Bred Arab. £9,000 of the prize fund is allocated to the Show’s International Trial with the top 20 riders on the Area and International Trials point list qualifying for the Queen Elizabeth II Cup at the BHS Royal International Horse Show.
Meghan Rice-Wilson, equine coordinator for the Kent County Show, said: “2019 is set to be an exciting year for the Show’s equine section. We’ve listened to feedback from last year’s Show and have worked to offer more for our exhibitors. Not only we do we have new classes for competitors to enter but we also have more for spectators too. The International Dzhigitovka Show will display top quality stunt riding and we also have a number of expert ring demonstrations in the pipeline.”
The Kent County Show’s new classes join its regular line up of heavy horse, show hunter pony, native breeds, ridden and working hunter classes, amongst other. The Show also hosts seven classes in the shoeing competition which are open to all registered farriers. For competitors, the Show also offers onsite stables if required. Entries are available online until 17 May for showing and 21 June for showjumping classes. Schedules, entry forms and more information is available from the Show Office.
