Horseware founder to compete at European Endurance Championships

Tom Sasha

On August 17th, Horseware CEO & Founder Tom MacGuinness will contest his first FEI European Championship in Brussels, as the only Irish competitor in the 160km Endurance Championship.

Up against the world’s best endurance combinations from Europe, MacGuinness is hopeful of a top 10 finish with his horse Horseware Sasha D’aillais a nine year old French bred Gelding. Having enjoyed success in eventing, show-jumping and polo, he took up the demanding sport of endurance racing in 2013 aged 60, and from his 25 starts has been well placed in a series of races from 80km – 160km including representing Ireland at The World Equestrian Games in 2014.

Tom says: “Endurance is a hugely popular sport around the world, and is small but growing here in Ireland. I hope I can raise the profile of what is an incredibly enjoyable sport. This is my first European Championship and is a complete unknown. What I do know is… I have a great horse, a great trainer and a great team.”
