A team from Great Britain has recently competed in the World Tent Pegging Championships held this year in Pakistan.  The event took place in Faisalabad and other teams taking part came from countries including Australia, Oman, Yemen, USA, Germany and Pakistan.

The Great Britain team consisting of Tina Ricketts-Smith, Adrian Deane, Jacky Chandler, Jenna Copley and Michael Smith finished in a fantastic 5th place in this exciting event.

Tent pegging is a fast and furious ancient sport, played on horseback whilst using lances, swords and guns.   ‘Tent pegging’ is the collective name for these mounted skills at arms which are primarily based on the cavalry sport of removing wooden ’tent pegs’ from horseback using a sword or a lance and the races are run at full gallop!

Tina Ricketts-Smith who is McTimoney chiropractor commented: “This year the competition was really tough with some of the world’s leading teams being represented.  We all rode local horses which proved a challenge in itself.”

The McTimoney Chiropractic Association (MCA) was delighted to support the GB Team by supplying their practice kit for the trip.  Competing McTimoney chiropractor, Tina added: “It was fantastic to have the support of the MCA and we proudly all wore our kit for our practice runs.” Tina trained firstly to treat humans with the McTimoney Chiropractic technique and then went on to qualify in the care of animals.

Liz Carson, from the MCA, said “What a fantastic sport!  We are always keen to support our members and I believe this is one of the most unusual sports the MCA has supported so far.  We were delighted to hear they finished 5th and are rightly very proud of Tina and the team!”
