Dodson & Horrell Celebrates 75th Anniversary
This year represents a landmark for Europe’s leading animal feed specialist, Dodson & Horrell, which is gearing up to celebrate its 75th anniversary.
The company, which has nourished equine Olympians, fed Grand National winners and fuelled Epson Derby victors, has been at the forefront of major advances in performance-linked animal nutrition throughout this time.
Special events and plans – yet to be announced – are in the pipeline for 2014 to commemorate this significant milestone, but to kick-start proceedings, here are a few of the more unusual facts and figures about the family-run company that was born in a small mill in Northamptonshire back in 1939.
Dodson & Horrell conducts over 750 forage analysis and lab tests on raw ingredients every week, exports to 42 countries worldwide and receives on average 7,200 enquires per year to its telephone helpline.
If all the feed bags produced by Dodson & Horrell were laid end to end, it would be the same as going to the moon and back five times.
In an average year, the tonnage output from Dodson & Horrell is more than the weight or 15 Eiffel Towers.
Dodson & Horrell’s portfolio of sponsored equestrian events continues to grow year on year. The company has recently announced its continued title sponsorship of the prestigious Chatsworth International Horse Trials, while it continues its title sponsorship of the popular British Showjumping National Amateur & Veteran Championships. Dodson & Horrell is the official supplier of nutrition to Equestrian Team GBR and Burghley Horse Trials, and sponsors – among others, the British Dressage Novice Summer Championship and the Point-to-Point Owners & Riders Association Members Series for novice riders.
This year will see the company’s most extensive presence at country events nationwide, with its brands represented on tradestands at more than 30 major country and sporting events.
